Senior Loss Control Consultant (8/25/10)
Berkley Mid-Atlantic Group, a regional property and casualty insurance company and a subsidiary of W.R. Berkley Corporation, a Fortune 500 and A.M. Best A+ rated Company, has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Loss Control Consultant in South Carolina.
The Senior Loss Control Consultant will be responsible for providing superior loss control consultative services to medium to large and/or complex policyholders throughout the assigned territory. This individual will also consult with policyholders, producers, and underwriters to conduct risk assessments, develop account service plans and initiate loss control services when necessary. Initiates, designs, and conducts safety training programs for policyholders as required. The candidate would work from their home and ideally be based in central to eastern South Carolina.
Ideal candidates will have 8-10 years of insurance loss control experience with a high degree of technical expertise in property/package/general liability accounts as well as construction, transportation/DOT, commercial and marine lines. Sprinkler system evaluation knowledge a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Candidate should be competent in Word, Excel and Power Point. Bachelor’s degree required. Any one of the following industry certifications desired: Certified Safety Professional, Professional Engineer, or designations of A.R.M. or A.L.C.M.

Safety Professional (7/16/10)
Pattillo Construction is looking for a safety professional to serve as our full-time, on-site representative for an industrial construction project in the North Charleston, SC area. The project is scheduled to begin in September and will last for approximately 10 months.
This person will coordinate site safety on a day-to-day basis and must have proven construction safety management skills & experience. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain a full-time professional safety presence on the site throughout construction.
- Work with the corporate safety director, project management team, general superintendent and subcontractors to increase safety awareness and promote safe work practices on the site.
- Monitor the site regularly to assist with & ensure compliance with the site safety program, client expectations and OSHA regulations.
- Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions or work practices and make constructive recommendations to the field management team.
- Prepare safety reports, audits, & follow-up documentation; assist with incident investigations; assist with leading & documenting toolbox meetings and task hazard analysis.
- Conduct site safety induction training for workers.
We are looking for someone who will communicate well with both management and construction field personnel, who will function effectively as part of our project team, and who will lead by example to foster a strong safety culture on the project. Proven skills and abilities should include:
- At least 3 years of safety experience with commercial / industrial construction projects
- Ability to navigate and function in a construction field environment
- Working knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA 30 Hour or greater)
- Prefer someone with professional credentials (CHST or other documented training in a safety related field)
- Adequate computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Safety training skills and experience a plus.
- Experience on Boeing projects a definite plus.
- Ability to assist with some project management duties also helpful.
